For more than a year, the American Connection Project has advocated for a significant federal investment in broadband infrastructure, improved broadband mapping, and better coordination across the government
We commend President Biden and the bipartisan group of senators who came together to negotiate an infrastructure framework that contains vital investments in broadband. If enacted, these investments would make enormous strides in addressing the digital divide faced by communities across the U.S., and help our nation connect with and compete in the global economy.
For more than a year, the American Connection Project has advocated for a significant federal investment in broadband infrastructure, improved broadband mapping, and better coordination across the government. This bipartisan infrastructure package is a critical step toward meeting this goal, and we look forward to working together with Congress and the White House as the legislation is written and finalized.
Furthermore, we also applaud leaders at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) for their recent announcement of an interagency agreement to share information about and coordinate the distribution of broadband deployment federal funds. These actions will make a significant impact on our ability to provide high-speed connectivity across the country.
As Congress moves to draft legislative language and specifics around this infrastructure framework, we will continue to advocate for investments that will help us close the digital divide, and we stand ready to further collaborate with policymakers to ensure broadband access for all.
